Took a pic of the Calgary Saddledome. 2nd oldest NHL arena but still a beauty
It is a nice barn, and one of the few in the NHL that is an iconic fixture of the city’s architecture as well. Also the third oldest in the NHL, despite being built in 1983.
I really do not see why Calgary is going to tear it down, considering. These structures have such short lifespans.
The NHL is always pressuring owners and cities to invest in new arenas, too. There must be more to it than just upgrading the ‘fan experience’ (which renovations can achieve). Seems wasteful to demolish these places and to start from scratch, but that’s basically the MO across the entire league.
